PROWFP6 - Comply with wood fuel quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes

 

Overview

This standard covers the skills and knowledge required to gain recognition against externally assessed quality schemes or complying with voluntary criteria. It is about evaluating the benefits and requirements of different schemes, following processes to get approval and ensuring the information is passed on to customers. 

This could apply to the production of wood chips, wood pellets, wood briquettes, fire wood or charcoal.

Performance Criteria


You must be able to:   

1.         comply with health and safety requirements and procedures at all times 

2.         identify different quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes relevant to the organisation

3.         evaluate benefits and requirements of different quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes and the impact they will have on the organisation and its processes

4.         select quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes that meet the organisation’s needs

5.         give sufficient information to others in the organisation to ensure they can see the benefits of quality standards, assurance and external recognition to the organisation 

6.         allow realistic time to follow application processes for chosen quality, assurance standards and recognition schemes

7.         produce appropriate evidence to prove compliance against criteria for chosen quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes

8.         seek specialist advice when required to improve chances of proving compliance 

9.         ensure benefits of quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes are relayed to customers

10.       put systems in place to meet any on-going requirements of quality standards, assurance and recognition schemes
