PROFI5 Confirm specific fenestration installation requirements
Overview
This standard covers the need to confirm the installation requirements relating to a specific job. All the specifications have to be checked and the candidate has to ensure that the materials used are appropriate for the specific installation. Any characteristics and features that affect the installation have to be identified. In addition, any areas that require structural support are identified along with any areas or features that could be damaged. All relevant information has to be recorded, and all relevant documents completed in full in line with organisational requirements. Any customer requirements also need to be recorded. At the end of the process, all completed documentation to be passed to the relevant people.
This standard is for you if you work in the Fenestration and Glazing Industry and are involved in work that involves checking and verifying fenestration installation requirements.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
1 identify the requirements of the customer and confirm them with the relevant people
2 establish the type and location of the installation work
3 identify the characteristics and features of the site that affect the installation work
4 identify the structural conditions of the specific installation and confirm suitability
5 determine accurately the position, size, and nature of any apertures
6 identify problems relating to the collection of information and deal with them according to required standards and legislation.
7 record information, including measurements, regarding the installation requirements in line with organizational requirements
8 confirm the correct specifications for the installation in line with relevant codes of practice and legislation
9 measure the installation with equipment selected and calibrated in line with organisational requirements
10 examine the materials prior to installation, to ensure they meet the specifications and the requirements of the customer
11 check that installation activities meet the requirements of relevant guidelines and procedures including Health and Safety, Building Regulations and current legislation
Knowledge and understanding
You need to know and understand:
1 what type of information should be obtained from a customer
2 what typical details are required to confirm installation activities
3 what type of additional requirements may be needed
4 how to establish the type and location of installation work
5 how different characteristics and features of the site could affect the installation
6 what structural conditions and problems can affect the way the installation is carried out
7 what methods can be used to determine the positions of the apertures within the building
8 what type of problems can occur with removal and installations, and what the procedures are for dealing with them
9 which measurements should be taken
10 what is the correct equipment for measuring different types of installation
11 how to know whether the measuring equipment is functioning in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manufacturer specifications
12 what information recording systems or methods should be used
13 why it is important to record the information in line with organisational requirements
