PROFI4 Prepare products and materials by shaping in fenestration installation

Overview            

This standard covers the preparing of products and materials by shaping in fenestration installation. This involves preparing the products and materials for shaping, and ensuring the correct type and quality are available. The candidate then uses the appropriate equipment to shape the product or material in a way that enables it to meet the specification. The candidate also

has to identify any problems with the process and take the appropriate action in line with their level of authority and role.

This standard is for you if you work in the Fenestration and Glazing Industry and are involved in preparing products and materials in fenestration installation.

Performance criteria

You must be able to:      

  1. comply with health and safety regulations and organisational requirements
  2. identify and confirm specification for preparation of products and materials
  3. check that required products and materials are available
  4. select correct type, quantity, and quality of products and materials to be used during preparation
  5. prepare products and materials in line with schedule and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  6. identify problems relating to products and materials and deal with them in line with SOPs and organisational requirements
  7. store prepared products and materials in location designated by SOPs and instructions
  8. identify suitable methods for shaping products and materials based on specification and instructions
  9. position products and materials for shaping in line with specification and instructions
  10. shape products and materials in line with specification
  11. monitor shaping to ensure it achieves the specification
  12. minimise wastage when using products and materials in line with regulations and organisational requirements and procedures
  13. identify problems relating to shaping and deal with them in line with SOPs
  14. record information on shaping of products and materials using your organisation’s information systems
