Overview 

This standard is about finishing visual content to meet client specifications during post production. It includes using your creativity to finish visual content including the addition of caption sets and logos.

This standard should apply to anyone who is involved with finishing visual content.

 

Performance Criteria 

You must be able to:

  1. identify the work to be carried out from reliable sources
  2. agree the schedule and time to be spent on finishing visual content with relevant people
  3. assess visual quality against agreed artistic or technical quality standards
  4. identify techniques to use to achieve required deliverables
  5. correct or enhance mixed formats to meet technical quality and artistic requirements
  6. ensure finished media meets required technical standards and client requirements
  7. give feedback on visual content that impacts on success of your work to relevant people
  8. maintain security for files and other materials in line with legal and organisational requirements
  9. complete documentation in line with legal and organisational requirements

 

Knowledge and understanding

You need to know and understand:  

  1. sources of information on the work to be carried out
  2. software operation for conforming and finishing
  3. how to work with mixed formats including archive media
  4. where to get information on client specification and editorial requirements
  5. how to interpret specifications in relation to your work including those relating to captions, credits and logos
  6. how your creativity adds value to your work
  7. how to communicate on technical matters with others with less technical understanding than you
  8. how to work with relevant people including the director
  9. costing and time estimation for work
  10. the importance of working to a deadline and budget
  11. statutory regulation and viewing standards that apply to content delivery
  12. national and international best practice for content delivery across different platforms
  13. how to assess visual quality to expected artistic and technical standards
  14. legal and organisational requirements for storage, back up and security of files and other materials
