Overview

This standard is about obtaining information and setting up systems to prepare, maintain and store documentation for theatre and live productions.

You must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and production requirements for information storage. You must also update and circulate documents when required, this can include production plans, schedules and scripts.

This standard is for Stage Managers and Assistant Stage Managers.

 

Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. set up systems for managing production information and documentation
  2. obtain the information to be included
  3. confirm what information is to be included in support documentation and the format required
  4. produce and circulate support documentation in line with production timescales
  5. communicate the requirements of production plans, schedules and scripts to the production team members
  6. compare progress against plans and schedules on an ongoing basis
  7. maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information in line with organisational and regulatory requirements

 

Knowledge and understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. information you need to obtain from the performers and production team for example allergies, dietary requirements or access requirements
  2. who needs the information contained in the support documentation
  3. the different types of support paperwork required at different stages of a production
  4. standard formats for presenting information, and when they should be used
  5. the deadlines and procedures for circulating paperwork
  6. the requirements for storing production documentation including the implications of current legislation and regulations covering data protection, including performers’ contact details
  7. who needs the information about the production plan and schedule, and when they need it
  8. sources of information on production progress and procedures for updating this document and version control
