Overview

This standard is about managing ongoing productions. This is about making sure new aspects of productions are incorporated and that problems that are unresolved by others are dealt with. 

This standard is for anyone who is responsible for managing ongoing productions.

 

Performance Criteria

You must be able to: 

  1. check and confirm that you understand the requirements of the production
  2. produce a delivery plan within budget and time constraints
  3. offer solutions to maintain technical and artistic integrity of productions
  4. implement recommendations from show reports
  5. oversee debriefing meetings for each department as required
  6. check and confirm damage to physical resources, fabric of the building or environment
  7. review records and implement changes before the next production
  8. review production operations and record savings and cost benefits which could be used for subsequent productions
  9. review quality assurance and make changes in line with organisational policy
  10. check communications and other systems are fully operational
  11. obtain progress reports regarding the operation of the technical departments, stage management and production team
  12. respond to changes in production schedules and technical aspects of the performance, using contingencies and delegating responsibilities when required
  13. monitor environmental issues and working practices to meet the production requirements
  14. monitor hazards or risks on or around the stage
  15. check and confirm that visitors and performers have been briefed on their responsibilities for own health and safety and that of others during performances
  16. deal with problems that are referred to you in line with production policies and procedures

 


Knowledge and Understanding

You must know and understand: 

  1. how to communicate with team members, colleagues and line managers and check understanding during the running of a performance
  2. how to negotiate and agree roles and responsibilities
  3. problems that might occur in maintaining the production as directed and the action to take in response to these.
  4. the information required for the show report and how to use this for future performances
  5. the importance of acting on recommendations in the show report for the next performance or for the next production
  6. why debriefing meetings are important and how to act on outcomes
  7. the benefits of monitoring all the functions to ensure they are fully operational and are meeting the creative brief
  8. the importance of dealing with damage to physical resources, fabric of the building or environmental issues promptly
  9. the importance of monitoring environmental issues and working practices which differs with each production
  10. the benefits to the organisation of reviewing health and safety, quality assurance and contractual arrangements
  11. the importance of reporting problems and available systems
